Welcome to Reef Riders – Windsurfing, Kitesurfing & SUP

We are fully operational, in Boracay, Philippines, from November to April!

Reef Riders is an authorized Starboard, Severne & Airush Center in the Philippines. It began its operation on December 2009 and continuously strives to cater to the windsurfing, kitesurfing and stand-up paddleboarding needs of guests in Boracay.

The center aims to provide beginner, intermediate and advanced rentals, beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons and a hospitable and accommodating crew for a convenient, fun, and unlimited action on the water using the best quality and latest Starboard, Severne & Airush equipment. The crew will gladly help you in choosing the right gear to suit your windsurfing needs.
 

Bolabog Beach, Boracay

Boracay has 2 seasons: Amihan Season (Northeast Monsoon) and Habagat Season (Southwest Monsoon). The main indicator of the switch between the 2 seasonal patterns is the change in the direction of the wind.

Amihan Season is characterized by moderate temperatures, little or no rainfall, and a prevailing wind from the east. This is the windsurfing season in Boracay; windsurfing in Bolabog Beach. It begins sometime in September or October and ends sometime in May or June. This however varies every year. So far, as observed, Boracay’s most windy months are during December, January and February. It’s during these months that a daily average of 20-30 knots of wind speed was common.

Reef Riders’ main office is located in Bolabog Beach (Windsurfing Beach). Bolabog lagoon is protected by a reef from big waves making it an ideal place for the slalom and freestyle enthusiasts and beginners. Furthermore, the thrill-seeking windsurfers and kitesurfer have the option of going to the reef to get their dose of adrenaline rush from the bump and jump swells, especially when it is blowing 20-35 knots.
 

White Beach, Boracay

For the windsurfers who could only get to Boracay during the Habagat Season (wind is on White Beach), we have set up office on Angol, White Beach. Hence, we are open all year round!
 

Kiteboarding Lessons

Discovery Course: Learn the basics of flying a kite.

Day Course: Theory of Wind Window, Kite Setup, Kite Control, Kite Relaunch, Body Dragging, Safety Measures, Board Recovery, Self Rescue

Beginner Course (IKO level 1 & 2): Waterstart, Boardriding, Board Control, Upwind Riding, Transitions

Advanced Course (IKO level 3): For riders who has taken IKO Level 2 Course but still need coaching to ride upwind, change direction or for riders who want to learn their first jumps.

Advanced Progression: Learn the basics of old school and unhooked tricks.

Beginner Kite Foil Course: Learn the basics of kite foiling.

I came to rent gear several time at Reef riders. They become like a familly now, mostly because the are friendly, happy, honest , competant and have great windsurf gear. They will try what they can to make you enjoy your windsurf time . The owner and the staff are trustfull and competent instructors. I saw plenty of time brand new beginers, even little kids, learning quickly and able to sail after half hour. Rogen, Dogdong and Toto are all kind and devoted instructors. And Chill the Owner will arrange the best for you with a big smille.It s the perfect place if you want to start learning windsurf, and great if u have a good level as you ll get all range of slalom, freeride, freestyle and wave sails or board, and you get recent good gear .They are simple and happy people, their main purpose here is that you enjoy your time windsurfing, Well It s what i feel when i m there . I'm a long time windsurfer at Berkeley California and just thrilled to windsurf in Boracay without a wetsuit. I inquired if I need to bring my own harness and got a prompt reply that all equipment is provided. True enough, they provided booties, helmet, harness and even impact vest. They have boards for freeride, slalom, wave and have plentiful sails to choose from. All are in excellent condition. After a few days windsurfing, I took a beginner kitesurfing lessons and was surprised at the pace of progression. I attribute this to the excellent instructors of Reef Riders. Very friendly people with enough good and recent gear for windsurfing. Very helpful service with suggestions about the best conditions to go out as well as help in rigging up and down and changing sail or board size. I highly recommend them if you want to use summer off the windier days to have some fun in the waves. They will move between east and west beach so you always surf onshore wind. Saw a lot of kite surfing there as well and their lessons looked very fun.read more
