Harry Nass Hurghada – Freeridespot with beautiful sandbanks in windward

In the lee of the almost forgotten top spot Magawish with its Caribbean-looking sandbars, the new Harry Nass Station offers an ideal freeride spot right in Hurghada.
Some windsurfers still from the 80s known as the first and best spot in Egypt, it has been rather quiet in recent years. Poor hotel or station quality discouraged discerning vacationers from flying to this spot. With the reopening of the Harry Nass Station at the 4 * Hotel Mercure Hurghada (formerly Sofitel), the spot is now being revived. The hotel is just 10 minutes from the airport.

It was voted Trip Advisor and Holiday Check as one of the best hotels. Here you will find your All In in impressive quality and at a high level. The atmosphere of the hotel is cozy, the food excellent and directly at the spot is the newly built Harry Nass station in well-known quality. The center is equipped with current JP / NP equipment. A total of 120 JP Boards, 130 NP Riggs and 50 Cabrinha Kites, 30 boards. The material can also be increased at any time at short notice.

From the bed on the board with plenty of room to windward and lee. The spot impresses with its all-round qualities, side shore wind from the left, untwisted, with shallow water and standing area on the sandbanks. Windsurfers and kiters will get their money’s worth here as well. The islands are located 700m in windward and are easily accessible with a few strokes.
For less experienced windsurfers and kiters, the Harry Nass Center offers a boat shuttle to the islands, and Dahab’s proven Walky Talky rescue system provides security for every guest. There are three lifeboats available.

The new station offers on 25m x 25m a large covered Aufriggfläche for the windsurfers, a large shady spot for the kiters with storage, classroom and a cozy lounge area for the sundowner. Changing room, showers and free internet as well as trapeze and suits in the rental are of course available. The station is located just a few steps from the water and is located directly on a small bay with a sandy beach. The friendly station team rigs up the sails with the desired harness length. The large shaded area for the kiters has a compressor, fresh water to clean the kites and a locked storage room. Take – off and landing assistance as well as a rescue service are available. All SUP boards are free for Harry Nass guests and can be used hourly. As a special highlight, trips to the islands are offered at LOW SUP. The hotel offers a la carte dinner once a week in the beautiful Oriental Restaurant. In addition, the station organizes a joint evening to the nearby harbour marina with cozy restaurants. Great people, good prices.The beach assistant was excellent and very helpful, and so were the facilities offered by the centre that I used during my stay (air pump, kite rent and kite storage). I had 1h course by Kevin, who was very helpful even after, for the whole week, giving good advices.The spot is also excellent for beginner/intermediate kitesurfers, where the lagoon has shallow water, constant wind and is not too crowded. For advanced, the centre 4 should be more suitable, but I did not test it. Free transfer to centre 4 should be included in the kite storage price, which was of 75 euros.In my week, I only had one unfortunate case (landed on a sea urchin), and they were quite helpful. Also, it seems that I found the only sea urchin in the lagoon!I went in November.read more

Amazing kite center in Dahab!The lagoon is a really good spot as we feel safe to progress sessions after session. We take few lesson with Ahmed, he was really professional and patient. Also really friendly, and welcoming, it was a good time to chill out with the team after a session. The equipment is in good condition and the staff is really accommodating if we wanted to change the kite size, board or anything else. + I paid for 4 lessons for a windsurf beginner, 3 weeks ago, the first 2 lessons were very good and they even gave me a discount.- But then I didn't do anymore lessons because they said that the wind was not good enough..., for 2 weeks. Best location in Dahab but the overall experience is poor for such an expensive premium brand. Only a few old wet suits (winter time), partially broken, no medium size one. Harnesses at the end of their lifes. Kites and boards are good, though. Staff always gave me (beginner) the impression it was my fault that it didn't work. Impatient and nonstop talking about what I'm doing wrong instead of giving me space to try and practice. It'a a bit discouraging... though they are very nice people 🤷read more

They were quite shady about money - they skimmed instruction time (twice!) but charged me for a full lesson, old equipment, short wetsuits which are unsuitable for the cold water.other schools in the laguna are far better in terms of fairness, cost and equipmentread more

Excellent spot! Equipment in great condition and many variations, there is a lot to choose from. I was with a group and when we arrived all was ready for us and marked, everyone knew the board number that was assigned to us for a duration, but when I wanted to try something else there was no problem with that. We where closely monitored and two rescue boats were watching over us all the time. Stuff was very helpful and sometimes all was finding its way to where it belongs, magic. Unfortunately my experience with them wasn’t good. Main issue is that they failed to properly disclose that the sessions are not individual but shared - even the kite and the board were shared with another person - so I basically spent half of my time watching my mate’s lesson. In my personal opinion shared kite lessons don’t really make much sense, but in any case I’d wished that this piece of information were made clear before the session was booked. The equipment was in good condition and instructors seemed professional (for the small amount of time I got to actually interact with them)EDIT: thanks that you guys were so quick in responding to my review. The number of stars I gave reflects my personal experience and I don’t need your guidance on that. Quickly to your points:1. I was only informed that the class was shared after the session had started, which is definitely somewhat too late. That had not been clarified anytime before that point - maybe you should update your information sheet to reflect that, cause it’s also not mentioned anywhere in there. I wouldn’t bring up this topic if it was clear from the start - and yes I was able to find private lessons just next door.2. Interesting that you claim that sharing of the equipment comes from a safety concern, since on the very previous day we had been assigned each one an individual set of equipment (kite and board) - class only didn’t take place due to lack of wind. Seems a bit inconsistent, but then I’m happy that safety was eventually taken in consideration.Anyways, all the best.read more

Professional centre with decent equipment and an incredible location to learn and more.The 5/5 rating can be credited to instructor Ezzy who I did 3 intermediate windsurfing lessons with. His tuition was the best I have ever experienced (and I have had 10-15 hours previously). Even when relearning the basics with Ezzy I picked up something new. Recommended for kitesurfing. Good teachers and nice spot.Had multiple kitesurf lessons with Mido and Abdul over the course of 11 days. I started with no previous experience and was able to make daily progress because of the very good instructions. They saw my errors and gave me tips how to correct them. Had a great time learning kitesurfing with Ahmed, my kiting instructor 🪁I was able to waterstart and go 20-30m after 5 lessons or so starting from being a total beginner.Lagona is an ideal place to learn as the water is shallow and flat always. I went kiting at a beach break with chops after leaving Egypt and really missed how much easier it was to learn in a shallow lagoon. The location is picturesque with desert mountains in the background and the kite center is right on the lagoon. If I had more time in Dahab, I'd keep coming back to become an even more independent kiter.read more

Hi everyone. Not recommended. I spend 10 days in Abaddon ... please don't go there1. Very expensive price2. Bad and old gear . Kite and wind surfing.3 . Owner is very crazy lady was shouting for the staff all the time .4. Some man in the office was keep saying sexual innuendo for my 16 years old daughter even he try to invite her out for football game.5. Staff is uneducated and have low experience about gear and language6..manger want only to take my money away .7. At center 2 staff keep trying to selling me sport accessories and asking for tips and my glasses was been stolen from my bag .8.the kite lagoon it's so small and low tide most of the time9.harry was rude to us andstingy he want 20 ¥ for day storage .10. Rescue come after 20 minute coz the boat was disabled and I waited for so long then some other boats from next door he helped me to come to the beach11. Hotel it's rubbish and not clean food is bad and cats every where .13 .the only good thing I did learn wing foil14.
