Smile, You are in Kenya!

Diani

Diani is a tropical paradise on the coast of the Kenyan safari land.

Diani Beach has many of the ingredients of the perfect tropical holiday destination.

Its location along a stunning white sand beach, which skirts the shore for an impressive 25 km has cemented its position as one of Kenya’s premier resorts.

A huge variety of activities are offered that cannot be found in any other single beach destination. Sports activities available include Golf, Horse riding and tennis, as well as any watersports activity one wishes to think of.

Leisure pastimes such as shopping, fine wine and dine and guided nature walks compliment an enormous range of daily excursions and world class defining safaris.

Kenya’s premier south coast beach, Diani Beach, was graced in November 2005 with the coast’s first ‘Boutique’ hotel, The Sands at Nomad.

The Beach

Kenya’s beaches rank in the top ten worldwide, and Diani counts as the best that Kenya has to offer.

The beach is the Diani’s major attraction – long, soft, white and lovely, it comes close to the tropical ideal.

With swaying palms and soft, white sand caressed by glittering, turquoise water, it is deservedly popular, and as one of the Indian Ocean’s premier resorts is impossible to beat just 8 hours flight away from Europe.

The Reef

The sea at Mombasa is as blue as a cornflower, and, outside the inlet to the harbor, the long breakers of the Indian Ocean draw a thin crooked white line, and give out a low thunder even in the calmest weather. (Karen Blixen, Out of Africa)

Lapping over iridescent coral gardens, home to laughing dolphins and magnificent whale sharks, the Indian Ocean reefs are unparalleled. Boasting warm waters all year round and promising crystal clear visibility, the Kenyan reefs offer some of the finest diving in the world.

The offshore reef offers rewarding snorkelling, it also keeps waves at bay, making paddling and swimming close to shore a pleasure and providing perfect conditions for kite and windsurfing lessons.

The Weather

Welcome to sunny Kenya!

Although dubbed the perfect year round holiday destination, there are definitely pronounced seasons in Kenya and Diani.

Lying just 4 degrees south of the equator Diani enjoys a very constant temperature, ranging from a coldest night temperature of 22 Celsius in May/June to a highest of 32 Celsius day temperature in February/March.

The wet season runs from the beginning of May till mid July and generally cannot be highly recommended as the ideal beach holiday weather.

August to the end of October is the windy season (15 km/hr) making this the ideal time for kite and windsurfing. The refreshing breeze helps cooling down sunburnt faces after long beach walks.

November to April is Diani’s warmest period, making it the absolutely perfect winter getaway, hot sunny days with an ever present light breeze rustling the palm fronds, create the ideal beach weather.

Leonardo’s

Arguably Diani’s most elegant restaurant, with soft lighting and a traditional makuti roof built around a gently flowing fountain.

Specialising in Italian cuisine this is the perfect romantic restaurant only five minutes ride up the road from The Sands at Nomad.
